About

Jason A. Edwards (Ph.D., Georgia State University) is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Bridgewater State University.  At Bridgewater State, he regularly teaches courses such as Foundations of Communication, Communication Theory, Communication Research Methods, Political Communication, American Public Address, and special topics courses surrounding rhetoric and politics.

His research interests focus on presidential communication, foreign policy discourse, and global rhetoric.  He is particularly interested in how narratives (all kinds) are created, maintained, strengthened, recast and/or forgotten.  He is the author of Navigating the Post-Cold War World: President Clinton’s Foreign Policy Rhetoric (Lexington Books) and co-editor (with David Weiss) of The Rhetoric of American Exceptionalism: Champions and Challengers.  Additionally, he has authored over 30 articles, book chapters, and book reviews that have appeared in venues such as Rhetoric and Public Affairs, Communication Quarterly, Southern Communication Journal, Presidential Studies Quarterly, International Journal of Communication, The Journal of Language and Politics, White House Studies, and The Howard Journal of Communications.  He is in the early stages of two book projects: 1) A book on the rhetorical contours of American exceptionalism in U.S. foreign policy; 2) a book that examines apologies for historical injustices.

Aside from being a political and pop culture junkie, Dr. Edwards enjoys golf, travel, working out, going to the movies, and watching his beloved Minnesota Vikings.
